SpeechStep
AI speech practice · wav2vec2 + GOP acoustic scoring

Five magical minutes a day.

Your child plays in their Speech Garden while real AI listens to every S, R and L — and turns each try into growing flowers. You see the science; they feel the magic.

Who’s practicing?

Garden · play-powered

🐝“Sssun! Your turn!”
🌻 S-flower is bloomingreal AI scoring · zero numbers on kids
One platform · ages 1–16

One account. Every age. Even at once.

The interface grows up with your child — play becomes achievement becomes self-improvement — while the AI, your account, and their history stay one journey. Lisps run in families: add each child once, and a 5-year-old gets the Garden while their teenage sibling trains privately in the Studio.

Everything here can be checked

We would rather show you the sources, the method and the person behind it than tell you how much other people love it.

Grounded in published guidance

Every guide on this site cites its sources, and each source is checked before it publishes. Right now that is 767 verified citations across 73 guides, drawn from 128 distinct sources — ASHA · peer-reviewed journals · CDC · AAP · NIDCD. These counts are measured from the content at build time, not typed in by hand.

Acoustic scoring, not guesswork

SpeechStep listens with a wav2vec2 phoneme recogniser and Goodness-of-Pronunciation scoring — the same family of methods used in pronunciation-assessment research. It is built to name what went wrong, not just hand back a number: a frontal lisp is separated from a lateral lisp by diagnosing the actual substitution in the sound, and a profile it cannot judge is declined rather than guessed at.

Built by a parent who needed it

“SpeechStep started at my own kitchen table. Both of my children have a lisp — my teenager a slight one, my younger child a more noticeable one.” Sachin Anand is an engineer (B.Tech, IIT Kanpur, Electrical Engineering — Communications) whose work has lived in signal processing and acoustics, which is the ground SpeechStep stands on.
